San Jose Prep Takes Robotics Championship by STORM

The FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics Florida State Championship was ‘taken by Storm’ by the San Jose Prep Robotics Team. The San Jose Prep Robotics Team, also known as the “StormTroopers,” went undefeated in the qualifying matches and ranked #2 in its division. The StormTroopers scored 256 points, which was a personal best for this team.

The event took place in Winter Haven, Florida, March 4-5.

Eight teams from Northeast Florida competed. Five of them advanced to the semifinal rounds in their divisions. San Jose Prep was the only charter school to reach the semifinals, from the NEFL League. San Jose Prep and Mandarin High School’s team, Saturn, were the only two Duval County schools to make it this far. The other three Northeast Florida teams were homeschool teams.

San Jose Prep’s StormTroopers and The Crazy Cat Ladies were the two Northeast Florida teams to advance to the final rounds of the semifinals in their divisions. No Northeast Florida teams will go past this competition to the next event.
