On-Campus Safety and Security
In accordance with established educational policies and the pursuit of a consistent and equitable framework for student discipline, Bold City Education adopts the Duval County Public Schools Code of Student Conduct as the governing authority for all matters pertaining to student behavior and disciplinary procedures. By aligning with the Duval County Public Schools Code of Student Conduct, Bold City Education ensures that its disciplinary practices remain consistent with prevailing legal standards and best practices within the educational community. This adoption serves to maintain a structured and predictable environment conducive to learning while safeguarding the rights and responsibilities of all students.
Regular emergency drills and training.
Florida law requires students and staff to perform regular emergency drills throughout the school year. This includes lockdown drills and active shooter protocol.
Please contact the Dean of Students/Administrator for your child's campus if you have questions about the Code of Conduct or to report any safety incident on campus.

Video Preparation for Active Assailant Drills
Florida passed a law in 2018 requiring all schools to conduct active assailant drills. These drills are intended to teach students in an age-appropriate way how to react when there is a threat of danger at one of our schools. To better prepare our children for the drills, we have asked for permission from Pinellas County Schools to use their safety video series. We will also use a resource from Hillsborough County in middle and high schools.
These are age-appropriate videos for students based on national best practice provided by the Department of Homeland Security. In addition, all students will participate in school-wide drills designed to provide practice, so our students will be better prepared and know what to do in an actual emergency.
Note: The video for students in kindergarten through second grade is not shown to students in schools. It is provided below in case you choose to watch it at home with your child.
Parent Choice to Opt Out
We understand that some parents of elementary school students may not want their children to experience these videos, particularly if the child has been through past trauma. Therefore, we will provide parents and guardians of elementary school students with a process to opt their children out of these videos.
The form to opt out of participation is available in FOCUS under your parent account. If you do not have a parent account, you can open an account here.
All of the videos are posted below so that caregivers can make an informed decision. Again, the K-2 video is provided for home use at your discretion. It is not shown at school; therefore, no opt-out is needed for kindergarten through second grade students.

FortifyFL is a suspicious activity reporting tool that allows you to instantly relay information to appropriate law enforcement agencies and school officials.
Involving the Community
Parents, guardians, and community members must also play an active role in keeping our schools safe. To do your part, families need to remember:
Follow the "See Something, Say Something" protocol. Be proactive and report potential threats or issues. This can be done through school staff, school police, local law enforcement, or via the FortifyFL reporting site or app.
Pay attention to your child's social media. Observe what they're posting and who they're in communication with.
Monitor who your child is spending time with. This includes in-person and via computer, phone, or messaging.
Never hesitate to ask your child the tough questions. This can help you "stay ahead" of an issue before it becomes a major problem.
